Books from Boxes is a cosy bookshop, shaped by a love of stories and human connection. It's a place to pause, explore, and rediscover the joy of reading.

Right nearby is MykeyArtZone, the working studio and gallery of artist Mykey John. From striking landscapes to playful caricatures, his artwork bursts with personality and heart. Hi there! I’m Carlos—the face behind Books from Boxes. What began as a market stall has now found a more permanent home: our very own bookshop. But this space, just like the stall, wouldn’t exist without the many readers, friends, and supporters who believed in what we were building together.

In a world that often feels rushed and disconnected, I still hold onto the belief that books—and the spaces we create around them—can bring people together. The shop is more than a place to buy books; it’s a place to slow down, discover, and connect.

As I once read, “There is no other world. There’s just another way to live.”

I’m Mykey John, an Artist and illustrator. MykeyArtZone is my art studio and gallery, based here at Wood street indoor market.

My work consists of landscapes, portraits, caricatures and a lot more, all reflecting my own unique style. I am very happy to accept commissions.
